It's nearly time!

From Tender to Journal: Embedding Experimental Design in Commercial Projects

Structuring Surveys to Maximise Operational Feasibility and Scientific Impact

This year’s conference unlocks insights into nearly 22-years of ca. 50 peer-reviewed research papers and industry case studies derived from OSC’s clients’ (your) commercial data (released from NDA), celebrating success stories but also highlighting the disconnect between survey design, data collection and scientific publication and how we can reforge those broken chains to deliver monitoring that is feasible operationally, regulator-ready and scientifically meaningful. This event brings together leading voices from the energy sectors, including operators, end-clients, regulators, governance, contractors, and service suppliers from across the globe, all of whom OSC have had the privilege to work with commercially over the years.

Why attend:

  • Be among the first to experience live demonstrations of OSC’s new PAM technologies,    developed by both marine scientists and engineers and thus earmarked to become the      industry’s de facto monitoring instruments;
  • Get your signed copy of the 2nd edition of the MMO & PAM Handbook;
  • Learn and engage in expert presentations and panel discussions with delegates that, not only operate in the same space but share the same goals;
  • Discuss upcoming projects or challenges in a private setting, with like-minded people,
    all who share the common denominator of OSC;
  • Network with global leaders in energy and industrial marine science;
  • Delight in a three-course black-tie dinner reflecting the Danish-Greek-Scottish foundations of OSC – food that is, inter alia, sustainable, climate friendly and exquisite to the palette. Includes a drinks reception with sophisticated (yes, we do have a piper, but only
    temporarily!), live entertainment in the extraordinary grand gallery;
  • A range of excellent sponsorship opportunities to elevate your company or organisation;
    and,
  • Opportunity to make it a family weekend in Edinburgh to enjoy the world-famous Christmas markets and more.

Silvana is a marine ecologist with more than 25 years of experience conducting R&D and advising national and international governments. She has studied the ecological changes resulting from climate change effects and human activities on marine ecosystems in the North Sea, Pacific and Caribbean Sea. Human activities such as dredging, aggregate extraction, offshore windfarms and more recently oil and gas (and direct effects of decommissioning) cause disturbance to seabed communities, therefore her work has been to minimise such effects and promote ocean stewardship. Cumulative effects assessments are also an area of her work with increasing quantities of man-made structures. She chairs the ICES operational groups of Diversity, Equality and Inclusivity (DEI) and the Science, Impact and Publication group (SIGP). Silvana is also an associate editor of the ICES JMS, supporting the mentor-mentee programme for early career scientists.
